This training is for anyone working with families during the perinatal period including: midwives, RNs, social workers, doulas, lactation support, MDs, and more. This extremely sensitive material is presented in a safe and supportive environment which facilitates participant learning and self-awareness.
Lecture, video and discussion will cover:
- Current evidence-based practice in the healthcare setting
- Delivering bad news
- Facilitating joint decision-making
- Providing anticipatory guidance along the journey
- Risk factors for depression and anxiety
- Impact on living children and on the subsequent pregnancy
Training Costs:
- $42 (includes all fees) General Public
- $32 (includes all fees) PS-WA Members and Volunteers
Objectives:
- Define developmental process of parent identity and attachment
- Describe in-hospital best practice for supportive care following early and late pregnancy loss
- Describe how guided participation helps patients anticipate a normal trajectory of grief
- Identify 3 signs which indicate a need for more intensive intervention
Continuing Education:
- 3.25 CEUs approved for LICSWs, LMHCs, and LMFTs
- 3.25 Contact hours are available for RNs
This Program has been approved for 3.25 CEUs for Licensed Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists by the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work.
